Tuesday, July 6, 2010Play with Fala by Fala Chien![]() When the weather is hot and sticky, I especially like to throw on a silk or chiffron one piece dresses and head out for a night in town. Silk feels cool on the skin, and chiffrons are light weight so it keeps air flowing, circulating an even body temperature. Most of the good quality silk or chiffron dresses you can find in boutiques that carries semi-formal to formal wears. H & M has been carrying a special blend silk material garments that feels like silk but less expensive than real silk. If you want real silk, Holt Renfrew will not dissapoint. Then again, if you want something unique, how about "FALA" by Vancouver based fashion designer Fala Chien? The one piece black silk zipper dress is classy yet carefully designed to be different. Check out her other beautiful designs at her website: Labels: FALA by Fala Chien Summer Time: Florals prints, Hawaiian Tropis Sunscreen and Strawberry Ice Tea Time![]() I know I'm being very specific about my title, but it speaks exactly what summer is for me, and if you got more to add on the list, feel free to comment at the bottom. The more the merrier, and soon we can throw ourselves a little ladies night out! Wouldn't that be the perfect summer ^^? This recent spring I spent the entire March helping a BFF putting together her clothing company's lookbook for Spring/ Summer 2010. The wonderful cozy easy breezy collection is now available on their website: I adore this collection. It's my kind of nature-inspired neutral atmosphere, very much like Aritzia's collections. Talking about Aritzia, I picked up this cute little floral skirt the other day. Maybe 100 other cheaper fashion lines carry the same cut same fabric same color even, but the hemming is certainly brilliant, and the surface of the fabric has been special treated. It's expensive for a reason and when this skirt survives another 10 years of beaches and UV rays, I wonder if the other 'copy skirts' are still in their fashionistas' closet. Wednesday, June 2, 2010OCEANS: The newest cozy Japanese Tapa Bar in Vancouverss![]() ![]() There are only so many restaurants that I like to go back to and when I do I go back almost for every meal. There's the Hong Kong style cafe called Glochester Cafe on Cambie and 16th in Vancouver, and just 2 streets away on Granville and 16th, there's now another equally amazing little place I just adore with all my love: OCEANS Japanese Restaurant. My top 3 choices: 1. Yam fries 2. BBQ beef Toque 3. Fresh amaebi sashimi, and make sure u ask their chef to deep fry the remaining prawn head. It's the best :) 4. I lied, I also love their garlic butter steam mussels. So I will see u at OCEANS sometimes^^ Labels: OCEANS Japanese Restaurant SUNNY MOON JEWELLRY

And she is. She loves art with a passion, and her work graces the Vancouver and international art scene with a fresh take on a totally unique art style of her own. The collection flows a underlying complicated amibent that is in contrast with the seemingly calm and conservative first glance, which successfully captured both the vision and the atmosphere of the viewer with pure imagination. The true christma of her art however lies in herself, a wonderfully charming talent with a vision and angle for ordinary things that becomes unique when it is captured by her lense. Sometimes we all try so hard to look for something special, but who would imagine it's all just right here under our noses all along :)? I know everyone's gotta dress in black. . but that doesn't include our coat. . does it??? Sometimes there are mountains that you think you cannot climb, but you still did anyways because you have climbed all others, and there are only afew of these left that you still haven't claim them under your belt. For me, that mountain has been conquered in this past weekend, as I took on the impossible of being the backstage manager for the "One World Celebration" variety show at River Rock Theatre of Richmond. I honestly thought the "Flavour of Glamour" fashion show was "IT" when it comes to mountains to be climbed. Not even close. The pressure was actually so intense for me that I had never concentrated so hard. It was a show that everyone has contributed in so much efforts, with performers from all over the world, and I was in the middle of it, mobiling a cast of over 100 people through the some 2000 square feet underworld backstage. All my love to Lucy, the most amazing director who had always, always, always given her 200% percent. All my respect to Cindy and Jon, who probably didn't sleep for 2 weeks for this show, and had been cueing the show so accurate for both nights, they must had all details down to the T, amazing^^ My thank yous to Emily, Bonnie, Grace, Edward, Gary, Stanley, for such hard work and amazing great team work. Xoxo to Jeremy of EMP for helping me deal with so much stuff so I can free my mind for other things, or else I just could not be able to concentrate. The adorable Opheila, for always being so sweet and helpful you always light my heart. My dear Dionne for being the elegant MC that bought the quality of the show up T.H.A.T. much!!!! So so so much!!! and Jeremy for working so crazily hard to the max you looked almost about to pass out!~ And to our superstar James: I'm sure you've climbed your own mountains for this show and lets just say that medley is now Lucy's best kept secret weapon whenever she needs to blow her audiences away :) Photos: courtesy of Gracie Chen and Emily Xiong Labels: Lucy Chan-Ng, One World Celebration Variety Show, River Rock Casino Theatre Tuesday, February 2, 2010Flavour of Glamour Fashion Show![]() Date: Feb 12th 2010 Time: 7pm -9pm Location: Tinseltown International Village Centre Stage 88w. The Lemon Park sisters, Tania and Penny Gleave, have always shared an interest in fashion and design, and often discussed starting a business together. So when Penny expressed an interest in changing careers at around the same time people were asking about jewellery Tania was creating and wearing at her openings, they decided to start Lemon Park. Lemon Park came from the idea of the seaside park where the sisters and surrounding neighbourhood children spent most of their time outside of school. “Park” was chosen as a result of wanting to suggest an idea of a big, open space, a space in which all kinds of things happen and where ideas take shape.
